Charleston, VT - Pastor Mike DeSena of the Morgan Church authorized $400.00 to support a family with three children, currently doubled up with family in Newport. This doubled-up situation is a second housing transition for the children since the start of the year because the family members they had originally been staying with had bedbugs, and the children were being eaten up. They treated the few belongings they had from that home, and all seems to be taken care. Joshua House Inc. has pledged to cover $800 of the $1200 needed. NEKCA helped them with an issue last October, so they will not be eligible for help from NEKCA for another 4-5 months.

There were other cases this month as the cold became serious. Many times, Joshua House Inc. was able to offer referrals and these referrals make the difference. One example: A homeless 73 year old woman sleeping in an abandoned store at Green Mountain Mall. JH counselor (Brenda) took over care for her from Darcy McCann, Chamber of Commerce. Darcy had to leave town and Brenda made calls over Thanksgiving weekend to this woman. She was able to get into Collanade Motel in Lyndonville. Brenda also talked to the management there and JH was going to pick up a night but due to severe cold, the state paid. The call Joshua House Inc. made to Capstone enabled this help. Darcy had a good lead on a subsidized apt. for her.
